Venstap vs. OpenVAS

OpenVAS is a free, capable open-source scanner; Venstap adds the workflow layer most teams end up building around it anyway.

OpenVAS (Greenbone) is a strong, free option for organizations that want to self-host a vulnerability scanner and are comfortable maintaining the infrastructure themselves. What OpenVAS does not provide out of the box is a triage workflow, role-based access for a growing team, manual pentest tracking, or audit-ready reporting — most teams that start with OpenVAS eventually build a spreadsheet or internal tool around it to fill those gaps. Venstap provides that layer natively, whether run alongside existing OpenVAS scan data or as a full replacement using its own nmap and nuclei orchestration.
